Phil Shore has seen the sport of lacrosse from a variety of viewpoints: player, coach, fan, and journalist. He has covered lacrosse as a journalist since 2010 and has done so at every level, from high school to the professional game. He is one of the prominent writers in the sport; former Dallas Rattlers brand manager Austin Lee tweeted, “One of the best in the #lacrosse business.” He published his first book, Major League Life, about the dedication professional lacrosse players, coaches and fans have, in June of 2019. While playing NCAA Division 3 lacrosse at Emerson College, Shore’s lacrosse journalism career began as a junior when he became New England Lacrosse Journal’s beat reporter for the National Lacrosse League’s Boston Blazers. Since then, Shore has researched and written three year-long top 10 features for New England Lacrosse Journal: the top rivalries in New England lacrosse, the top players from New England (the feature on No. 1 player Matt Striebel was the cover story), and the top coaches in New England. In 2010, he also covered girls’ high school lacrosse for The Boston Globe. After graduating from Emerson with a B.S. in print and multimedia journalism (USA Today ranked Emerson as the top journalism school in the country in 2015), Shore hosted his own online radio show/podcast – Lacrosse Lounge on the Lacrosse Radio Network – in January of 2012. Shore also became the MLL beat reporter for Lacrosse Magazine, the official magazine of U.S. Lacrosse, the governing body of the sport in the United States of America.
